Return Values

Most RPC protocol methods have return values. The Return Values section of the reference page includes up to three subsections. The Success section shows return values of successful methods and the Error section shows return values of unsuccessful methods. Some methods also include a third section, Sample Return Code.

If a method does not have a return value, the Return Values section contains the statement: This method has no return value.

The Success section varies. For a detailed description of this section and the Sample Return Code section, see Successful Return Values.

The Error section includes a link to the error message formats for one of the following: Error Message Format for FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions from Microsoft or Error Message Format for Windows SharePoint Services. Some methods also list error messages that are specific to the method in use.
