The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service proxyAddress attribute value for all user objects to determine whether there is a match for the user specified local sender Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) address.

If the Exchange Server Analyzer cannot find a proxyAddress match for the user-specified local sender SMTP address, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays an error.

This error indicates that one of the following conditions is true:

  • The local sender does not exist in the local Exchange Server organization.

  • The user-specified local sender SMTP address was incorrectly entered.

To resolve this error, verify the specified local sender's SMTP address and try the operation again.

To verify the local sender's address

  1. Start Exchange System Manager.

  2. Expand Recipients, and then All Global Address Lists.

  3. Right-click Default Global Address List and select Properties.

  4. Click Preview to display the SMTP addresses of recipients included in the Default Global Address List.

  5. Verify that the specified local sender is displayed and note the SMTP address.
