CPQCIDRV.SYS driver update available

The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine the version of Microsoft Windows® running on the server that is running Exchange Server:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CurrentVersion

A CurrentVersion value of 4.0 indicates that the Exchange server is running Microsoft Windows NT® Server 4.0. A value of 5.0 indicates that the Exchange server is running Windows 2000 Server. A value of 5.2 indicates the Exchange Server computer is running Windows Server™ 2003.

The Exchange Server Analyzer also examines the Win32_Processor Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine the value for the DataWidth key.

A DataWidth key value of 32 indicates the server is running a 32-bit version of the Windows operating system whereas a DataWidth key value of 64 indicates the server is running a 64-bit version of the Windows operating system.

Finally, the Exchange Server Analyzer queries the CIM_Datafile WMI class to determine the value of the Version key for a file that is named CpqCiDrv.sys.

The Exchange Server Analyzer displays an error if the following conditions are true:

  • The Exchange server is running Windows Server 2003.

  • The Exchange server is running a 64-bit version of the Windows operating system.

  • The version of the HP Integrated Lights-Out Management Interface driver, CPQCIDRV.sys, is earlier than 1.8.

This error indicates that the version of CpqCiDrv.sys installed on the server may cause kernel memory allocation errors.
