Public Folder Database Cannot be Found

The Microsoft Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory directory service to determine the value of the msExchOABFlags attribute of all Offline Address Books (objects that have a class of msExchOAB). The value of the msExchOABFlags attribute represents whether public folder distribution is enabled for the Offline Address Book (OAB) or not.
The Exchange Server Analyzer also queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine the value of the doOABVersion attribute for all objects that have a class of msExchOAB. The value of the doOABVersion attribute represents compatibility information of this specific address book with different versions of Exchange Server.
Finally, the Exchange Server Analyzer queries the Exchange Public Folder Database that hosts the OAB generation and replication to determine its status.
If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds either of the following scenarios to be true, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays a warning:
- The OAB is configured for Exchange Server Public Folder Replication and the public folder database that hosts the OAB generation and replication is missing or not mounted.
- The OAB is configured to generate OAB version 2 or 3 addresses and the public folder database that hosts the OAB generation and replication is missing or not mounted.
This warning means that OAB generation will fail.
An OAB is a copy of an address book that has been downloaded so that Microsoft Outlook users can access the information it contains while disconnected from the Exchange server. Exchange administrators can choose which address books are made available to users who work offline, and they can also configure the method by which the address books are distributed (Web-based distribution or public folder distribution).
With public folder distribution, the OAB generation process places the files directly in one of the public folders, and then Exchange store replication copies the data to other public folder distribution points. Public folders are maintained by using the Exchange Management Shell. For more information, see Managing Public Folders.
To address this issue, make sure the public folder database that hosts OAB generation and replication is mounted.
