Configuring a domain name for your home server

A domain name uniquely identifies your home server on the Internet. For example, you can register the name smithfamily.homeserver.com and then use that name to connect to your Windows Home Server Web site.

To configure a domain name

  1. On the Windows Home Server Console, click Settings.

  2. On Windows Home Server Settings, click Remote Access.

  3. In Domain name, click Configure.

The Setup a Domain Name Wizard starts, where you can choose a domain-name provider. After you choose a provider, a wizard for that provider guides you through the process of selecting a domain name.
