Configuring your broadband router

Windows Home Server can try to automatically configure your broadband router. To do this, your router must support UPnP standards, and the UPnP setting must be enabled on your router for Windows Home Server.

To configure your broadband router

  1. On the Windows Home Server Console, click Settings.

  2. On Windows Home Server Settings, click Remote Access.

  3. In Remote Access, on the details pane, click Turn on.

The Turn On Remote Access Wizard starts and attempts to configure your router.

Note

Your home network configuration should follow the supported network requirements for Windows Home Server. Your home server must have only one network card, and you should have only one router on your home network. For more information about Windows Home Server requirements, see your Windows Home Server Getting Started guide. Or you can download "Windows Home Server Getting Started" from the Microsoft Web site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=85098).

Note

Setup instructions for some manufacturer’s routers are available at the Microsoft Web site (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/windows-home-server-router-setup.aspx).
