ShortMonth Property

This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

The ShortMonth property returns an abbreviation for the name of a month from an installed Microsoft SQL Server language.

Syntax

.ShortMonth(OrdinalMonth)

Parts

  • object
    An expression that evaluates to an object in the Applies To list
  • OrdinalMonth
    A long integer that specifies a month of the year

Data Type

String

Modifiable

Read-only

Prototype (C/C++)

HRESULT GetShortMonth(long nMonth, SQLDMO_LPBSTR pRetVal);

Note

SQL Distributed Management Objects (SQL-DMO) strings are always returned as OLE BSTR objects. A C/C++ application obtains a reference to the string. The application must release the reference using SysFreeString.

Remarks

The ShortMonth property retrieves an abbreviated month name by ordinal value where January is represented as month 1. For example, a Language object referencing an installed SQL Server German language might return the string Okt when the property ShortMonth(10) is referenced.
