Inventory View Reference
Inventory views contain hardware and software inventory information about the clients, files, products, and so forth in the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) hierarchy. SMS collects inventory data when you enable the Hardware Inventory or the Software Inventory Client Agents. Because you can configure which hardware inventory to collect and which file types to scan during software inventory, each site will have a unique set of inventory that is collected. Add-on tools and programs will inventory specific information to make the collected information even more unique between sites.
For each site, it is possible to retrieve a list of the hardware and software inventory schema to determine exactly what is inventoried. An example of how to do this for hardware and software inventory, as well as detailed information about the typical SMS SQL views, is provided in the next sections.
