Sending MOM Data to Other Applications

Before choosing a technique for sending MOM data to other applications, you should consider the following factors:

  • Will the connector and the application be on the same local network or will firewalls and a WAN be involved?
  • Which communication protocols should the connector and the application use?
  • Will your solution result in adequate performance?
  • Will the MOM data be read-only?
  • Will the connector be one way or two way?
  • Will updates need to be synchronized?
  • What operating system does the application use?
  • Can the connector handle short-term communication failures and will it be able to retry if the first attempt to send a message fails? A connector should be robust, because the health of many servers on a network depends on it.
  • Will the connector be responsible for filtering the data that is transmitted?

The appropriate solution depends on many criteria. The ones listed above are only starting points.
