Modify slice properties
You can create different export settings for each slice that your document defines. You can also change what appears in the slice, or duplicate the slice to export it in different formats (see Change what appears in a slice, Move, cut, or copy a slice, and Export a slice).
To modify slice properties
Under Slice Layer in the Layers panel, make sure that the slice is visible

button.Under Slice Layer, or on the artboard, select a slice for which you want to configure the export settings.

The slice properties appear under Edit Slice in the Properties panel.

Next to Slice name, enter a unique name for your slice. The slice name is used to name the file that will contain the exported slice. If you plan to import the file into another project (for example, into a Microsoft Expression Blend 2 project as a resource), the name must be unique in the Expression Blend 2 project.
Next to Format, select the type of format in which you want the slice to be exported. You can select one of the following formats:
XAML Silverlight Canvas Exports a single XAML file that includes all the art represented as objects in a canvas layout panel. You can import this XAML file into a Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 project in Expression Blend 2 to use as a stand-alone document (your starting XAML file, or a XAML file that is loaded programmatically), or to copy and paste objects into another XAML document.
XAML WPF Drawing Brush Exports a resource dictionary that includes all the art represented as drawing brush resources. You can import this XAML file into a Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) project in Expression Blend 2 and then apply the resources to brush properties of the objects in your project.
Tip
Make sure the names that you select for your drawing brush resources differ from any resources in the Expression Blend 2 project that will use the exported files.
XAML WPF Canvas Exports a single XAML file that includes all the art represented as objects in a canvas layout panel. You can import this XAML file into a Windows Presentation Foundation project in Expression Blend 2 to use as a stand-alone document (your startup XAML file, or a XAML file that is loaded programmatically), or to copy and paste objects into another XAML document. You can also open this file in Design view in Expression Blend 2, right-click any object or objects, and then make a button or a user control out of the objects by selecting the options on the Tools menu.
PNG Exports the slice in .png format.
JPEG Exports the slice in .jpg format.
GIF Exports the slice in .gif format.
TIFF Exports the slice in .tiff format.
BMP Exports the slice in .bmp format. Before you export, you might want to test the quality of your image by using the Pixel Preview command on the View menu. For more information, see Pixel Preview.
WDP (HD Photo) Exports the slice in .wdp format.
PSD Exports the slice in a .psd project file.
PDF Exports the slice in .pdf format.
Expand the Slice contents drop-down menu to view the art objects that were captured when you created your slice. You can omit (or hide) single objects or container objects (such as layers or group objects) by clearing the check box that appears next to the layer name.
