Turn clipping on or off for a container

When content is clipped in Microsoft Expression Blend, if child content of a containing element falls outside the layout container, that content will not be seen—in other words, it will be clipped. When clipping is turned on, you will only notice the clipping effect when a child element (such as a grid panel) of the layout container (such as a ScrollViewer) is larger than the layout container itself.

Note

The ClipToBounds property is not available in Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 projects.

To turn clipping on for a container

  1. On the artboard or under Objects and Timeline in the Interaction panel, select the object on which you want to change clipping property.

  2. Under Appearance in the Properties panel, click the Show advanced properties Cc294657.81e110f1-4068-4299-957d-0693cea95088(en-us,Expression.10).png button to expand the category, and then do one of the following:

    • To clip the object, select the ClipToBounds check box. At run time, the content that falls outside of the object's bounding box will not be visible.

    • To prevent the object from being clipped, cancel the selection of the ClipToBounds check box. At run time, the content that falls outside of the object's bounding box will be visible.
