Autosave and rescue files

To safeguard your artwork, Microsoft Expression Design periodically saves your documents into rescue files. These files are saved in the Expression Design native file format and are automatically removed as soon as you save or close your document. In case of a system failure or a program error, Expression Design automatically opens any current rescue files as soon as you start the program again. While auto-save can minimize your data loss in case of unexpected problems, you should not rely on it as a replacement for saving regularly.

Note that Expression Design does not perform an auto-save unless you have actually changed something in your file since the last time you saved it.

To adjust the auto-save frequency

  1. On the Edit menu, point to Options, and then click Files.

  2. In the Files panel, under Native format save options, select how often you want the program to save your files.
