Select objects using shared attributes

The more objects you have on your page, the more difficult it is to select just the ones that you want. The Select By command lets you select objects that share specific attributes.

Using the Select By command

To select objects by using the Select By command

  1. Select a sample object that has one or more attributes that you want to use as a basis for selection.

  2. On the Select menu, click Select By.

  3. In the Select By dialog box, select one or more of the following attributes:

    • Stroke name   All of the paths and shapes that use the same gradient or brush stroke.

    • Stroke color   All of the paths and shapes that use the same stroke color (for basic strokes), gradient name (for gradient strokes), or foreground color (for skeletal strokes).

    • Fill   All of the paths and shapes that use the same fill color, gradient, or image.

    • Font   All of the text objects that use the same font as the currently selected text object.

  4. Click OK.
