Set display quality

Display quality refers to the three different ways that Microsoft Expression Design can show your objects on a page. Changing the display quality setting does not affect your final output, but can help in navigating your document and selecting paths. For example, if you have very complex paths, a lower display quality can speed up screen redraw on a slower computer.

Changing your display quality settings

By default, Expression Design displays your artwork in Preview mode, reflecting what you would get when you export or print your file. You can also view your artwork in Wireframe mode (or as the skeleton of each path and the outlines of shapes) or, on a layer-by-layer basis, in Path mode (just the skeletons of paths, ignoring both vector and image brush stroke outlines).

To view your artwork in Wireframe mode

• On the View menu, point to DisplayQuality, and then click Wireframe (or press CTRL+SHIFT+Y).

Note that bitmapped images and brush strokes based on bitmapped images still appear in Wireframe mode.

To view your artwork in Preview mode

• On the View menu, point to Display Quality, and then click Preview (or press CTRL+ALT+Y).

You can view individual layers in Path mode.

To view a layer in your artwork in Path mode

1. In the Layers panel, click the Layer option icon .

2. On the menu, point to Layer Options, then to Layer Render Style, and then click Path.
