As you add objects to your document and it becomes more complex, consider labeling important paths and shapes so you can identify them quickly.
Additionally, it is useful to label objects because the labels are used to name the files and objects that are created when you export your artwork. For example, the labels of slices are used to name exported image files or XAML resources when you export the slices. For more information, see Export a slice and the topics under Exporting by using the Export dialog box.
To label an object
Do one of the following:
In the Layers panel, expand a layer and select the object you want to rename.
Double-click the name of an object, and type the new name.
