The editing window

In Microsoft Expression Web, you edit web pages in the editing window. When you open a site, Expression Web adds a Site View tab to your editing window. For more information, see Site View.

When you have a site open, the Site View tab is displayed at the top of the editing window.

The files you have open appear as tabs at the top of the editing window. The file you are currently editing is highlighted.

Tip   To switch from one page to another, press CTRL+TAB or CTRL+SHIFT+TAB.

To close the page you are editing, click Close Cc295418.681fe729-28b0-4d84-87fd-e1d2b3cf738b(en-us,Expression.40).png.

HTML tags appear in the Quick Tag Selector bar in nested order. You can click a tag to select it or click the down arrow next to it for more options. For more information, see Quick Tag Selector.

Use Design, Split and Code to change the page view. For more information, see Code and Split page views.

To switch from one view to another, press CTRL+PAGE UP or CTRL+PAGE DOWN.

There are three views in which you can edit web pages. For more information, see Code and Split page views.

Page views

  • **Design   **Design and edit web pages using the design tools in an approximated WYSIWIG authoring experience.

    Tip

    To display HTML tags in Design view, press CTRL+FORWARD SLASH (/).

  • **Split   **Review and edit web page content in a split screen format that offers you simultaneous access to both Code and Design views.

    Note

    When you are working in Split view, to apply changes you made in Code view to Design view, press F5.

  • **Code   **View, write, and edit the HTML tags yourself. With the optimized code features in Expression Web, you can create clean HTML, and it is easier for you to remove any code that you do not want.
