Using XML data

You can use Data Views to integrate XML data in your HTML or ASP.NET pages. Creating a Data View is as easy as dragging an XML file onto your page.

Data Views present live views of XML data that you can filter, sort, or group. You can also change the layout, apply styles, or apply conditional formatting in a completely WYSIWYG environment.

After you insert a Data View into your page, you can also use the WYSIWYG tools in Microsoft Expression Web to add or remove columns, change font formatting, or apply colors. When you format a Data View by using the WYSIWYG tools available in Expression Web, Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) is generated for you in an external .xsl file. While it is possible to edit the XSLT directly in this file, you can use the formatting tools in Expression Web to apply XSLT quickly and easily without knowing any XSLT.
