XLINQ Sample

The XLINQ sample demonstrates the key features of Language-Integrated Query (LINQ) to XML. This sample loads a list of books from an XML file and lets the user perform the following operations:

  • Search by book title.

  • View the list of books grouped by author, style, or subject.

  • Search by book attribute (unified search).

To build and deploy the sample using Visual Studio

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to one of the language-specific subdirectories under the XLINQ directory for this sample.

  2. Double-click the solutions (.sln) file for this sample.

  3. Press F5 to compile and run the sample.

  4. Deploy the sample to the device or emulator.

Requirements

Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 must be installed with the smart device development components. This includes the .NET Compact Framework version 3.5, which is required to build and run the sample. To compile the sample using msbuild.exe, see How to: Compile at the Command Prompt.
