Returns the names of files in the specified directory.

Parameters
- path
Type: System..::.String
The directory from which to retrieve the files.
Return Value
Type: array<System..::.String>[]()[]
A String array of file names in the specified directory.
Exceptions
Exception | Condition |
---|---|
IOException | path is a file name. |
UnauthorizedAccessException | The caller does not have the required permission. |
ArgumentException | path is a zero-length string, contains only white space, or contains one or more invalid characters. |
ArgumentNullException | path is nullNothingnullptra null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic). |
PathTooLongException | The specified path, file name, or both exceed the system-defined maximum length. For example, on Windows-based platforms, paths must be less than 248 characters and file names must be less than 260 characters. |
DirectoryNotFoundException | The specified path is invalid (for example, it is on an unmapped drive). |
