Mutex.TryOpenExisting Method

For apps that target Windows Phone OS 7.0 and 7.1, do not use this member in your app. If you do, your code will throw a MethodAccessException. This member is security-critical, which restricts it to internal use by the .NET Framework for Windows Phone class library.

Opens the specified named mutex, if it already exists, and returns a value that indicates whether the operation succeeded.

Parameters

    Type: System.Threading..::.Mutex%
    When this method returns, contains a Mutex object that represents the named mutex if the call succeeded, or nullNothingnullptra null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic) if the call failed. This parameter is treated as uninitialized.

Return Value

Type: System..::.Boolean
true if the named mutex was opened successfully; otherwise, false.
