[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

The BuildFromXMLFile method loads a filter graph from an XML file.

Note  Support for this interface was removed in Windows 7. New applications should not use this interface.
 

Syntax

HRESULT BuildFromXMLFile(
  [in] IGraphBuilder *pGraph,
  [in] LPCWSTR       wszFileName,
  [in] LPCWSTR       wszBaseURL
);

Parameters

[in] pGraph

Pointer to the Filter Graph Manager's IGraphBuilder interface. To create the Filter Graph Manager, call CoCreateInstance. Do not add any filters to the graph before calling this method.

[in] wszFileName

Wide-character string that contains the full path name of an XML file. The XML file must contain the string returned by the IXMLGraphBuilder::SaveToXML method.

[in] wszBaseURL

Reserved. Set to NULL.

Return value

Returns an HRESULT value.
