IVPBaseConfig::SetDDSurfaceKernelHandles method (vpconfig.h)

[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

The SetDDSurfaceKernelHandles method specifies the kernel-mode handles of the DirectDraw surfaces to be used for the overlay surface.

Syntax

HRESULT SetDDSurfaceKernelHandles(
  [in] DWORD     cHandles,
  [in] ULONG_PTR *rgDDKernelHandles
);

Parameters

[in] cHandles

Specifies the number of handles in the rgDDKernelHandles array.

[in] rgDDKernelHandles

Address of an array of kernel-mode handles.

Return value

Returns an HRESULT value.

Remarks

This method sets the DirectDraw handles for the overlay surface. There may be more than one attached surface, so the array may contain more than one surface handle.
