Important

This feature will be removed in a future version of Windows. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature. Instead, applications should use XML.

The Data Shaping Service for OLE DB is shipped with the Microsoft Data Access Components as Msadds.dll and requires no special installation procedures. It is supported by Microsoft OLE DB version 2.0 and later. Msadds.dll contains the Data Source, Session, and Command objects.

In addition to the Data Shaping Provider, the Cursor Service for OLE DB must be installed. Msdace.dll contains the client cursor rowset object and is a core component of Microsoft Data Access Components.

Because the Data Shaping and Cursor Services are closely tied, it is recommended that you install each one from the same version of the Microsoft Data Access Components.
