Issuing a Certificate for a Pending Request


[This topic covers a procedure for working with the XML digital signatures support implemented in MSXML 5.0 for Microsoft Office Applications. XML digital signatures are not supported in MXSML 6.0 and later.]

If you set up your own certificate authority (CA), you will have to issue a certificate from the CA server computer to your local machine. The following procedure describes how to do this. If you chose to access an existing CA rather than create your own, an administrator on the CA computer must follow these steps.

To issue a certificate for a pending request

  1. On the CA server computer, open Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Administrative Tools, then Certification Authority.

  3. In the console tree that appears, under Certification Authority (Local), locate the name of the CA that was used in the certificate request process. Expand its contents.

  4. In the expanded console tree, click Pending Requests.

  5. In the right-hand details pane, locate the pending certificate request that you've just submitted. Click it.

  6. From the Action menu, point to All Tasks, and then click Issue.

Now the requested certificate has been issued, and you can install it for use in signing and verifying XML.
