Creating an SLD File

A component definition (.sld) file contains one or more objects, including components, repositories, packages, dependency groups, and repository sets. Before you create an object, you must open or create an .sld file.

**Note   **Do not attempt to open or edit system level definition (.sld) files supplied as part of Microsoft Windows® XP Embedded. This may compromise the integrity of the Windows XP Embedded-based platform database and may result in incorrect run-time build behavior.

To create an .sld file

  1. In Component Designer, from the File menu, choose New.
  2. From the File menu, choose Save.
  3. In the Save in list, browse to the folder where you want to save the .sld file.
  4. In the File name box, type a file name for the new .sld file.
  5. Choose Save.

You can now add objects to the .sld file and define them. Use Component Database Manager to import your .sld file into the component database.

Note   Only ANSI and Unicode are supported formats for .sld files. Unicode big-endian is not supported.
