After you have created a run-time image for the Device Emulator BSP, you can download that image to the Device Emulator on your development workstation.

For more information about the Device Emulator, see Device Emulator Overview.

To download a run-time image to the Device Emulator

  1. Configure connectivity settings to the Device Emulator.

For more information, see Configuring DMA Connectivity Settings for the Device Emulator

  1. Configure property settings for the Device Emulator.

For more information, see Configuring Property Settings for the Device Emulator.

  2. From the Target menu, choose Attach Device.

After you choose Attach Device, the Core Connectivity infrastructure begins the image download and emulator boot process. A new window launches for the Device Emulator, and a dialog box appears displaying a progress indicator for the run-time image download.

After the run-time image downloads, a splash screen appears in the Device Emulator window, and debug activity appears in the Platform Builder debug output window.

It might take several minutes for the run-time image to finish initializing. Once initialization is complete, the splash screen for your run-time image appears in the Emulator window. You can now begin testing the run-time image.

    Note

If you are using the Windows Mobile Version 5.0 Adaptation Kit to download a run-time image through Ethernet transport to a Windows Mobile 6 device, you must update the boot loader, eboot.nb0, by copying it from your run-time image to the %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Platform Builder for Windows Mobile\5.00\CORECON\BIN\SMDK directory.
