Settings

This component can be configured by using Target Designer to exclude specified components from the bundle. Because this component includes a number of applications, its footprint is sizeable. To reduce the footprint of your run-time image, in Target Designer on the Components tab, clear the check boxes for all components that are not required in your configuration.

Notes

You can also use this component to resolve issues that are related to missing dependencies and application compatibility. After the component is added to your configuration and your application works, you can exclude unnecessary components from the configuration to reduce the footprint of your run-time image.

When you build a kiosk or gaming console, you may want to create your own shell. For more information, see How to Create a Customized Shell in Windows XP Embedded Help.

For Windows Xp Embedded Service Pack 2 Feature Pack 2007, this component was updated to include the Dialer Application by default. However, be aware that the Dialer Application component pulls in the Outlook Express component. This can result in a footprint increase of 8MB. This issue will be addressed in a future release.
