Installing Windows Embedded CE with Shared Source Code (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

When you install Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Shared Source, the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Setup Wizard guides you through the process.
If there is a preexisting instance of Windows Embedded CE, you must remove it before installation.
You can modify the installation to add the Shared Source for Windows Embedded CE component.
To install Windows Embedded CE Shared Source
Insert the CE 6.0 installation media into the appropriate drive of your development workstation.

Download and run setup for the Emulation Edition.
In the Welcome to the Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Setup Wizard dialog box, choose Next.
In the License Agreement dialog box, read the agreement, choose I accept the terms in the License Agreement and then choose Next.
In the Customer Information dialog box, enter information in the following fields:
Your name
The name of your organization or company
The product key, located on your Windows Embedded CE installation media sleeve
Note
If you are installing the downloaded Emulation Edition, no product key is necessary.
In the Setup dialog box, configure support for the IDE and for building run-time images by selecting the tools that you want to install.
Select the microprocessors you want to support.
Note
If you are installing the downloaded Emulation Edition, no processors are listed.
Select Shared Source, select Will be installed on the local hard drive, and then choose Next.
Choose I accept the terms in the License Agreement and then choose Next.
In the Ready to Install dialog box, choose Install to copy the Platform Builder and Windows Embedded CE files to your development workstation's hard drive.
Exit the wizard after the installation is complete by choosing Finish.
You can now use Shared Source code in your OS design.
