Simplified Chinese (Compact 2013)

3/28/2014

Windows Embedded Compact supports the Simplified Chinese locale, which includes support for Simplified Chinese languages, support for fonts that display Simplified Chinese characters, and an input method editor (IME) for users to input Simplified Chinese characters.

Examples of Simplified Chinese languages include Chinese (People's Republic of China) and Chinese (Singapore).

To display Simplified Chinese characters that use the GB18030-2005 character encoding, Windows Embedded Compact provides a GB18030 data converter (SYSGEN_GB18030) that converts GB18030 characters to a native encoding supported by the OS.

The GB18030 data converter uses code page identifier 54936. For more information, see Simplified Chinese GB18030 Text Converter Registry Settings.

The following table shows the IMEs that Windows Embedded Compact supports for Simplified Chinese.

To add this feature to your OS, see Simplified Chinese Catalog Items and Sysgen Variables.
