Notes

You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group to use NTFS compression.

On devices using File-Based Write Filter (FBWF) to protect a volume, changes due to compressing files by using NTFS compression or by creating a Compressed Folder are not maintained after a reboot, if the files being compressed are both part of the overlay cache and were not committed to the volume before the reboot, unless they are on the FBWF Exclusion list.
