This section discusses which log files you should use to troubleshoot Device Manager 2011 issues.
For most Configuration Manager issues, use the log files provided by Configuration Manager. For more information, see Log Files in Configuration Manager 2007 in Configuration Manager Help. Device Manager 2011 provides the following log files that detail Device Manager 2011 specific errors:
- %systemroot%\EDM_Setup.log. Available on the site server and provides status and error messages pertaining to Device Manager 2011 installation.
- %programdata%\Microsoft\EDM.Common.HostService.log. Available on the site server and device. Provides general status and errors pertaining to routine use of Device Manager 2011.
- %programdata%\Microsoft\EDM\EDMState.log. Available on the device and provides general status information about communications between the device and server.
