IPv6 release (Compact 2013)

3/26/2014

The ipv6 release command releases a DHCPv6-assigned address on an interface.

Syntax

ipv6 release [ifindex]

Options

The following table describes each ipv6 release option. These options are not case-sensitive.

Option

Description

ifindex

Indicates the index number of the interface for which to release an address. If you do not specify an interface, ipv6 release releases addresses on all IPv6 interfaces. You can use the IPConfig command to determine the interface index number that corresponds to a particular IP address.

Remarks

This command causes the DHCPv6 client to send a Release message to the DHCPv6 server that assigned the address for the specified interface. For information about DHCPv6 Release messages, see RFC 3315.

Example

The following example shows how to release the address on interface index 1.
