As a first step in using Scheduler, you must create a schedule.

To create a schedule

Note  This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.

  1. On the Explorers menu, click Job Explorer.

  2. Select your datastore from the Datastore drop-down list.

  3. Select the Feature or Category tab, click the appropriate node and then click the Refresh button.

  4. Right-click the job to schedule, and then click Schedule.

Note  : More than one job may be scheduled at a time by holding down the CTRL - key, and then clicking each job to be scheduled.

  5. On the Machines tab, select a machine pool in which to schedule this job from the drop-down list.

Note  : You must have Execute permissions for a machine pool in order to schedule jobs to it.

Machine pools set to schedule all computers as an atomic unit are prefixed with *. This means that if a computer from a machine pool with that property is selected, then all computers in that pool are reserved, but the deployment will only be on the selected computers.

  6. To schedule the job only on specific computers within this machine pool, select the Restrict Machine Selection to Specific Machines in Machine Pool check box, and then select the check boxes for the specific computers to use. In the list view select the computers to be scheduled and clear those not to be scheduled.

Note  : The list of client computers originally selected for the schedule is not maintained by DTM. Therefore, if a client is moved out of a machine pool and then later brought back in, the client is identified as a valid client for the schedule only if the Restrict Machine Selection to Specific Machines in Machine Pool option is NOT selected.

  7. On the Jobs Added tab, review the list of mix contexts which are selected. Specific mix contexts may be deselected if any context is not needed.

  8. On the Schedule Options tab, review the options for the Result Collection to group results by, timing, and schedule behavior.

Note  : If you increment the Multiplier count option beyond the default value of 1, this will simply add more instances of the jobs to the schedule. These additional instances will run on any computer possible within the machine pool, including the same computer.

  9. When all options have been set, click the Create Schedule button.
