DTM Controller and Client Configuration

Note  This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.

After you have installed the DTM software components, you are ready to begin using DTM. Before you can execute jobs, you must organize your controllers' client computers into groupings called machine pools. When you install DTM client, that client computer is placed in the default pool of the controller from which you ran the DTM client installer. In addition the client is set to manual status. The first time you run DTM Studio, you will need to create a user-named machine pool, and then move the client computer(s) from the default machine pool into your user-named pool. You also will need to reset client computers statuses before the controller can schedule them to execute jobs. You can create additional pools, depending on how you want to organize and distribute the clients among the controllers.

  1. Create machine pools.

  2. Reset the client computers' status.

  3. Create user accounts.

  4. Prepare the client computers to run the "Designed for Microsoft Windows" logo test jobs. (This step is required only if you want to run the logo test jobs for the Windows Vista Beta 2 release.)
