Scanner WinColor Test

Note  This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.

Type: Automated Test

Overview

The Scanner WinColor Test test validates that a scanner conforms to the Windows Color Compliancy requirements for scanners. For more information about the Windows Color Compliancy requirements, see WinColorKit: Windows Color Quality Test Kit for Device OEMs.

Details

The test scans a color target. The scanned target is compared against the expected colors of the standard. The differences are then averaged and square root summed. If the average or square root sum is greater than the Windows Color Compliancy requirements allow, a failure is reported. For more information of the methods that are used and the calculations, see WinColorKit: Windows Color Quality Test Kit for Device OEMs.
