Enrolling Your Devices

When you enroll a device, you establish a link between your device and your enterprise. After you enroll your device, you can install apps either from your enterprise or from app stores.

Enrolling a computer

Follow these steps to enroll a computer.

To enroll a computer

  1. In the company portal, click All My Devices.

  2. On the All My Devices page, click Enroll your computer.

  3. On the Enroll your computer page, click Download Software.

  4. On the Download Software page, click Run, then click Next to start the Windows Intune Setup Wizard.

  5. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.

Note

The Windows Intune client software installation may take several hours, but you can continue to use your computer while the software is installing. The status of the Windows Intune software is displayed by hovering over the icon in the notification area. If Windows Intune is also performing other actions such as downloading Windows updates simultaneously, the status corresponding to these other actions may be displayed instead.

Enrolling mobile devices

In addition to computers, you can also enroll mobile devices including Windows RT devices, Windows Phone 8 devices, and iOS devices.

Enrolling Windows RT devices

Follow these steps to enroll a Windows RT device.

To enroll a Windows RT device

  1. On your Windows RT device, open the System dialog box by one of the following methods:

    • Select Start, and type System Configuration.

    • Select the Settings menu.

    • Select the System icon.

  2. Open the Company Apps dialog box.

  3. Enter your company credentials in the Company Apps dialog box.

It may take several minutes for enrollment to be reflected in the app. As soon as enrollment has completed, this device appears in the list of devices and you will be able to install software using the Company Portal app.

Enrolling Windows Phone 8 devices

Follow these steps to enroll a Windows Phone 8 device.

To enroll a Windows Phone 8 device

  1. On your Windows Phone 8 device select Settings, then select Company Apps.

  2. Select add account, and enter your company credentials in the Company Apps dialog.

After your Windows Phone 8 device is enrolled, you are prompted to install the Company Portal app, which you can then use to install apps provided by your administrator.

Enrolling iOS devices

Use the following procedure to enroll an iOS device.

Important

The iOS device must be running iOS 5.0 or later.

To enroll an iOS device

  1. Browse to the mobile IT portal as directed by your system administrator.

  2. Enter your company email address and password.

    Note

    If you are trying to enroll another device of the same type, for example if you have already enrolled an iPhone and are now trying to enroll another iPhone, you will be directed to the Identify your device page. On this page, select Add another device and continue to the next step.

  3. On the Company apps page, select Install to begin the installation of the iOS management profile, and enroll your device.

  4. Complete the management profile installation wizard, and select Done when the installation is finished.
