Description
Specifies that, if the system stops abnormally, the only area of memory copied to the recovery log is the area used by the operating system kernel.
The kernel of the system manages the system's most basic functions, such as allocating processor time and handling hardware interrupts.
The location of the recovery log is stored in the DumpFile entry. By default, it is Systemroot \MEMORY.DMP.

Change method
To change the value of this entry, use System in Control Panel. Click the Advanced tab, and then click the Startup and Recovery button. When the Write kernel information only box is selected, the value of this entry is 1.
Activation method
To make changes to this value effective, you must restart Windows 2000.

To change the value of this entry, you must be an administrator of the computer.
Windows 2000 adds this value to the registry when you use System in Control Panel to change the default value.
