Remove Security Configuration Wizard from a computer

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

  1. Open Add or Remove Programs.

  2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.

  3. Clear the Security Configuration Wizard check box, click Next, and then click Finish.

Notes

  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

  • To open Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.

  • When Security Configuration Wizard (SCW) is uninstalled, all files contained in the %Windir%\Security\Msscw folder are removed. This includes all policy files, log files, and rollback files that were created after SCW was installed.
