Address Information dialog box

Use this dialog box to edit individual address entries or add a new entry.

  • Name
The friendly name (computer name, for example) for the Address.
  • Permanent Name
Uses the text in the Name text box as the friendly name of the computer in the local address database (.adr). By default, this check box is cleared.
  • Address
The address that identifies the computer to the network.
  • Type
The address type that associates with Address. By default, the detected address type appears in this list. For example, suppose that the network associates a name with an Ethernet address and you want to associate the name with an IP address. You select IP and then type the IP address in the Address text box. Associating a name with a new address type removes its association with the previous address type.
  • Comment
Any additional information that you want to include in the address description. For example, you might enter the type of CPU or network adapter or mention some problem the computer has exhibited.
