HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Config
Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD |
|
6 (domain controllers) 10 (member servers and standalone computers) |
Description
Specifies the shortest interval (in units of 2n seconds, where n is the value of this entry) that is allowed for system polling. While the system does not request samples more frequently than this, a provider may produce samples whenever it wants.
Activation Method
To make changes to this entry effective, at the command line, type:
w32tm /config /update
Note
- The lower this value, the more network accesses the computer must make. This value should be lower on domain controllers, where clock accuracy is more important than efficiency.
Caution
- The default providers installed with Windows Server 2003 do not synchronize more quickly than every 16 seconds, regardless of the value of this entry.
