Start and Stop MS DTC

You can use the Services snap-in to start or stop the Distributed Transaction Coordinator service (MSDTC).
To commit any configuration changes, the Component Services administrative tool requires Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) to be running. If you attempt to change any settings using Component Services when MS DTC is stopped, MS DTC is restarted. If you receive error messages when you attempt to use Component Services, verify that MS DTC is started. If it is not started, restart it.
Membership in Administrators, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at Local and Domain Default Groups (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477).
To start or stop MS DTC
Open the Services snap-in.
To open Services, on the Start menu, click Control Panel. In Control Panel, click Administrative Tools. In Administrative Tools, click Services.
In the details pane, click Distributed Transaction Coordinator in the list of services.
On the Action menu, click Start or Stop.
If MS DTC fails to start, examine Event Viewer to determine whether any MS DTC-related events appear near the time of the failure to start. MS DTC typically logs an event when it is not able to start successfully.
