Set the DHCP Database Path

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

This procedure describes how to specify the path DHCP uses when storing the database on the applicable DHCP server. It does not set the path used by DHCP when you back up a database with the backup command.

Membership in the Administrators or DHCP Administrators group is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To set the DHCP database path

  1. Open DHCP.

  2. In the console tree, click the applicable DHCP server.

  3. On the Action menu, click Properties.

  4. In Server Properties, click the Advanced tab, select Database path, and then delete the default database path (C:\WINDOWS\System32\Dhcp).

  5. Type the path you prefer, or click Browse to select a folder location.
