Set the DHCP Database Backup Path
Applies To: Windows Server 2008
This procedure describes how to specify the path DHCP uses when backing up the database. It does not set the path used by DHCP to store the primary database on the applicable server.
Membership in the Administrators or DHCP Administrators group is the minimum required to complete this procedure.
To set the DHCP database backup path
In the console tree, click the applicable DHCP server.
On the Action menu, click Properties.
In the Server Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab, click Backup path, and then delete the default backup path (C:\WINDOWS\System32\dhcp\backup).
Type a new backup path, or click Browse to select a folder location.
By default, the DHCP database is automatically backed up every hour. However, when you change the backup folder location, an automatic backup of the database does not occur. You can back up the database immediately after changing the backup folder location by clicking Backup on the Action menu of the DHCP console. Automatic backups will then occur every hour.
