Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 Foundation, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista
You create a connection profile in three overall steps:
Start the Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK) wizard.
Run the CMAK wizard and enter all the necessary information.
Let the CMAK wizard build your customized connection profile.
Starting the CMAK wizard
Do not start the CMAK wizard until you have collected all the information you need and have prepared all the custom bitmaps, Help files, and other items, as described in earlier sections.
To start the CMAK wizard
- Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Connection Manager Administration Kit.
Running the CMAK wizard
Other sections in this guide provide details on how to build a connection profile, describing the pages in the order in which they appear when you run the CMAK wizard. Depending on the options you select in the wizard, some pages might be skipped. These should correspond to features that you do not need.
When specifying the file location of any custom element (such as the phone book, bitmaps, icons, and so on), type the complete path or browse to find the appropriate file.
After you enter information and select options on each page, click Next to advance to the next page. If you want to change information that you entered in previous pages, you can click Back as many times as necessary to find the settings you want to change. Make your changes, and then click Next to continue moving forward through the CMAK wizard.
If at any time you want more information about the information to be included in a particular pane of the CMAK wizard, click Help in the pane to open a topic that contains Help specific to the content of that pane.
Finishing the CMAK wizard and building a connection profile
When you finish entering information and are ready for the CMAK wizard to build the connection profile, click Next. After the CMAK wizard builds the connection profile, a dialog box appears, indicating the folder and file name that were used to save the connection profile.
After you click Next on the Ready to Build the Connection Profile page, the Back button is disabled. To change the profile, you have to run the CMAK wizard again.
To perform advanced customization by using the CMAK wizard, you must select the Advanced Customization check box before clicking Next. For more information, see Advanced Customization.
After you finish, you can continue with manual advanced customization, including editing the .cms files and other connection-profile files. For more information, see Advanced Customization. Be sure to rerun the CMAK wizard after completing advanced customization to incorporate your changes into the profile installer.
