RRAS: The network interface <adapter name> on the RRAS server should be enabled

Issue

The interface <adapter name> is disabled.

Impact

If a network interface is disabled then clients cannot communicate with the RRAS server through that interface.

Resolution

Enable the interface <adapter name> on the RRAS server.

RRAS routing requires a minimum of two network interfaces. Remote access also requires a minimum of two network interfaces if remote access clients must access resources on a private network. Network adapters installed on the computer must be enabled for use in Windows before they can be used within RRAS.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To enable a network adapter for use by RRAS

  1. Confirm that the network adapter is physically connected to the network.

  2. Open the Network Connections folder. To do so, Click the network icon in the notification area of the task bar, and then click Open Network and Sharing Center. In the left-hand pane, click Change adapter settings.

  3. Examine the icon for the network adapter. If the adapter is enabled, the icon has blue monitors, and the name of the network to which it is connected appears under the adapter name. If the icon is disabled, the monitors are grey, and the word Disabled appears under the adapter name.

  4. If the adapter is disabled, then select the adapter, and then click Enable this network device in the toolbar at the top of the window.
