Password implementation in Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8
Password technology enhances credential management in Windows with the introduction of picture passwords, and improvements and expansion of credential management with Managed Service Accounts, one-time passwords, fine-grained passwords administered by Active Directory Domain Services, Microsoft account service (Windows Live ID), and the Credential Locker (formerly Windows Vault).
For information about these uses of password and credential management technologies, see the Passwords Overview in the Windows Server 2012 TechNet Library.
