[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

The Notify method notifies the pin that a quality change is requested. This method implements the IQualityControl::Notify method.

Syntax

HRESULT Notify(
   IBaseFilter *pSelf,
   Quality     q
);

Parameters

pSelf

Pointer to the filter that is sending the quality-control message.

q

Quality structure that contains the quality-control message.

Return value

Returns S_OK.

Remarks

Filters usually pass quality-control messages to an upstream output pin, not to an input pin. Therefore, this method returns S_OK without doing anything.
