CTransformFilter.SetMediaType method

[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

The SetMediaType method is called when the media type is set on one of the filter's pins.

Syntax

virtual HRESULT SetMediaType(
         PIN_DIRECTION direction,
   const CMediaType    *pmt
);

Parameters

direction

Member of the PIN_DIRECTION enumerated type, specifying a pin on the filter (input or output).

pmt

Pointer to a CMediaType object that specifies the media type.

Return value

Returns S_OK.

Remarks

The CTransformInputPin::SetMediaType and CTransformOutputPin::SetMediaType methods call this method when a pin's media type is set. This method does nothing in the base class, but the derived class can override it.
