Beberapa beban kerja database seperti SQL Server memerlukan memori, penyimpanan, dan bandwidth I/O yang tinggi, tetapi bukan jumlah inti yang tinggi. Banyak beban kerja database yang tidak intensif CPU. Azure menawarkan ukuran komputer virtual tertentu di mana Anda dapat membatasi jumlah komputer virtual vCPU untuk mengurangi biaya lisensi perangkat lunak, sambil mempertahankan memori, penyimpanan, dan bandwidth I/O yang sama.
Jumlah vCPU dapat dibatasi hingga satu setengah atau seperempat dari ukuran VM asli. Ukuran komputer virtual baru ini memiliki akhiran yang menentukan jumlah vCPU aktif untuk membuatnya lebih mudah diidentifikasi oleh Anda.
Misalnya, ukuran komputer virtual Standard_GS5 saat ini tersedia dengan 32 vCPU, RAM 448 GB, 64 disk (hingga 256 TB), dan bandwidth I/O 80.000 IOP atau 2 GB/dtk. Ukuran komputer virtual baru Standard_GS5-16 dan Standard_GS5-8 masing-masing dilengkapi dengan 16 dan 8 vCPU aktif, selagi mempertahankan spesifikasi Standard_GS5 lainnya untuk memori, penyimpanan, dan bandwidth I/O.
Biaya lisensi yang dikenakan untuk SQL Server dibatasi ke jumlah vCPU baru, dan produk lain harus ditagih berdasarkan jumlah vCPU baru. Ini menghasilkan peningkatan 50% hingga 75% dalam rasio spesifikasi komputer terhadap vCPU aktif (dapat ditagihkan). Ukuran komputer virtual baru ini memungkinkan beban kerja pelanggan untuk menggunakan memori, penyimpanan, dan bandwidth I/O yang sama selagi mengoptimalkan biaya lisensi perangkat lunak mereka.
