Educator manual review of a Reading Progress assignment

Completed

Educators don’t need to use auto-detect if they prefer to score the accuracy or expression of a reading assignment manually. To use the manual review feature in Reading Progress, turn off the auto-detect tool and manually mark up the reading passage while watching or listening to the learner's recording. When auto-detect is turned off, the pronunciation sensitivity or the unexpected pause length setting is also turned off.

In the Accuracy section is a dropdown menu for each word in the passage, so if a word is misread and the educator wishes to mark it, they select the word and apply one of the following options in the dropdown menu:

  • Mispronunciation
  • Insertion
  • Omission
  • Self-correction
  • Repetition

Additionally, educators can use the text tool feature in the dropdown to insert a word. They can also jump to a word in the recording with the Jump to word option in the dropdown choices.

The accuracy rate automatically updates as educators review and mark different words in the passage. Educators can also add words that learners inserted into the passage.

In the Expression section is a dropdown menu for:

  • Correct
  • Monotone
  • Extended pause
  • Jump to word

Reading Progress gives educators the valuable opportunity to watch and listen to each of their learners read and evaluate their fluency.
